“The Night of the Dragon,” the Eighth Annual Gala of The Lycée Français de New York will be held
in the spectacular setting of Cipriani 55 Wall Street on Friday, February 2, 2007. This glamorous and
fashionable evening of dining, dancing and silent and live auctions will attract both the French-
American and multi-national communities of New York City. Come and join us for this unforgettable
night, celebrating the Chinese New Year and the introduction of the Lycée’s Mandarin program. A
flying dragon leading a parade of ancient Chinese costumes modeled by our own students will transport
you on a lavish Asian voyage.
Mr. Michel David-Weill, former Chairman of Lazard Frères and Co LLC, will be honored for his significant
contributions to the Lycée Français and to the development of French-American relationships and
exchanges on both sides of the Atlantic. Lindsay Owen-Jones, Chairman of L'Oréal will present him with the Charles de Ferry de Fontnouvelle Award.
Last year’s Gala attracted support from more than thirty prominent corporate sponsors and 700 guests
including French dignitaries, leaders of international corporations, and prominent members of the LFNY
and French-American communities. The Gala 2006 was also featured in The New York Times and other
important local press.
The Lycée Français is a not-for-profit, tax exempt, coeducational, independent school. The School enrolls
1,300 students, representing 60 nationalities, from nursery to 12th grade. By careful management, the Lycée
is able to maintain tuition 30 percent less than the average New York City independent school. The Lycée
offers a challenging education in an atmosphere that accepts diversity and sees no boundaries between
peoples and cultures.
Your support would further the mission of the Lycée and its activities, including academic programs and
scholarship initiatives which will enable 20% of our students, who could not otherwise afford the opportunity,
to benefit from a Lycée education. |
